After a brief stint in consumer publishing, Roberta made the transition to entertainment trade publishing, loved it and never looked back. After a decade of overseeing four publications for the domestic and international cable and television industries, she was hired by BPI (which became VNU and then The Nielsen Co.) in 1990 to be the first publisher of SHOOT Magazine that had just been spun off from Back Stage. With a great love for advertising, movies / TV, and everything new media, she ran SHOOT for 14 years—and-- then took the bold (crazy) move to acquire SHOOT in January 2005 convincing her husband who also has a publishing background to be her partner. Having just celebrated five years of independent ownership, SHOOT is looking forward to an exciting 2010 packed with special features and events leading up to a 50th Anniversary commemorative issue and event/anniversary bash in November.

Covering news, great work, trends, creative techniques, applications and talent, SHOOT provides timely relevant information including behind-the-scenes looks at the best new commercials, interactive work, branded content, music videos, features, etc., and the talented ad agency creatives & producers and commercial & entertainment industry executives and artisans behind the work. SHOOT also provides insights from established filmmaking talent providing as well as a heads-up on the up-and-comers, as reflected in our March and October Directors Issues and our annual New Directors Showcase Event held at the DGA Theatre in New York every May. SHOOT conducts a New Directors Search each year from January - March and selects the 25-30 best pieces of work for the reel. 2010 will mark the 8th Anniversary of the New Directors Search and New Directors Showcase Event. SHOOT is thrilled to be holding the 2010 event on May 11 during Creative Week NYC.
